Saying Hello

I've just begun watching Robin Hood, and I didn't know that it was still on the air. I caught one episode (a rerun from Season 1), and immediately went out and bought both Seasons 1 & 2. I just finished watching Season 2 this morning (tragic...absolutely tragic!!!), and was dismayed to find that Season 3 wasn't available yet. But then I found this forum, which informed me that Season 3 is still airing!!! (Imagine my shock!) So, I have missed 6 or 7 episodes, apparently, but I'm going to start watching it nonetheless. I also read the thread that gives synopses of the episodes thus-far this season, so I think I'll be able to keep up.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to fellow fans and introduce myself. I'm Jules, and I'm looking forward to talking to you all on the board!

Welcome, Jules! Sorry you missed out on S3 until now. You'll definitely want to see it! It's supposed to be available on DVD in January, I believe. Episode 8 airs this Saturday on BBCA, but they'll show last week's episode right before it, so you can still get "Too Hot to Handle".

Glad to hear you kept up on things by reading the posts on this board. Just be aware of spoilers if you don't want to know ahead of time. Probably you already know that many of us saw it online or in the UK over the summer.

Perhaps someone else could help me out here---isn't there a way for Jules to get the missed episodes without having to wait for the DVD release? BBC On Demand, or something like that?

Anyway, please join in the discussion!

I think BBCA On Demand still has them all. But they might not, they may have cut 1,2,3 by now. But you can still catch up from wherever they start. And I have no doubt there will be another marathon before too long.

You picked a pretty good time to jump in. Things are heating up and beginning to rock and roll.

Welcome to the boards!

Welcome, Jules! Glad to have another fan join our discussions. BBCA On Demand has the last four episodes available for viewing now. Also, the S3 DVD box set will be available on 12 Jan 2010. The BBCA Shop listing for S3 also lists all the episode plot summaries for those who want to cut to the chase. The summaries are very explicit and complete if you want to catch up fast. Don't read beyond Ep. 7 if you want any surprises - they detail the entire story through the finale.

Please enjoy posting with us - we love this show and the legend. Most of us hated S2, Episode 13 - the episode of infamy. Just read our earlier posts to find out how much. Tragic is just the word for such a heartless debacle.

Hi Everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome!

I checked my cable service, and it seems that I don't have BBCA On Demand. That's ok. I'll just jump in now, feet first, and wait for some reruns. Either way, I'll be buying the disks in January! I'm completely taken in by this series! I only found it earlier this month, and have been going through about a disk a day on DVD, until today, that is, when I ran out of disks. Hehe...

So, you guys don't like S2 Ep. 13, huh? Gee, I wonder why!? I mean, it was a fairly good episode up until the tragic rip-your-heart-out part. Very romantic, though.

Hi Jules and welcome to the board. I just started posting here after watching S1 & S2 through netflix. I had to order BBCA through my cable company just so I could watch S3. Luckily RH is ondemand, but I did notice yesterday that for some reason they skipped EP 6 - Do you love me. They had Ep 4, 5 and 7......weird.

BBCA On Demand on Comcast in Mass. has Ep.4,5,6 and 7 available now. It might be worthwhile to bring this omission to their notice - some fans may have missed the episode and would be glad to get another chance to see it.

SS, may I suggest an addendum to your noble sentiment about our forum gang:

"...the women are strong, the men are good-looking and all the children (little Seth and little Robin) are above average..." Yea, verily! Credit for the aforesaid courtesy of GK in a prairie home far, far from Sherwood.

Personally, I don't fly well and prefer to ride my steed through the Sherwood greenery - until I guide my beast into the nearest tree a la Guy. As my horse and his have eyes and should use them while in motion, both riders are absolved from these minor traffic violations.

Those handsome men are most welcome in Sherwood, too - males usually do have the showiest plumage. No complaints, mind you. PS - I thought you might be a prairie dweller from your delightful post - every Saturday night from 6 to 8pm anyway. And then, 8 to 10pm, it's all Robin and Sherwood! Life is good!

Speaking of all the wonderful, talented, and eccentric posters on this board... We've had some discussion about our own writing, so I know many of you have made strides in that direction. November is National Novel Writing Month! (just Google that and you'll find the site). You can sign up and become a member of the project. The goal is to write a 50,000 word story between the first and 31st of November. I'm probably going to regret it because I have a feeling this will only add to my madness, but I've signed up. I plan on plotting the tribulation on my blog (when I have time), but if I disappear from the forum- except around 10 on Saturday nights- you'll know why.
I hope some of you try it! Think of it as the push that prevents over-thinking and over-editing.

HI ! ! ! ! AND WELCOME INDEED ! ! ! !

We have fun here in our Sherwood Forest - as one of them said when I finally was able to log my way into the chat "camp" - "Much will set another place at the table for you".

(I don't remember which of you said that - but THANK YOU ! ! ! That was a very sweet welcome, and made me feel very wanted)

You'll find that plainjane keeps us in laughter with her witticisms (as do some of the others at times)

And when Pokeygirl (I think it's her) sees your name on the board, she will get in touch with you about our Cyber Forest Home website that a few of the Robin Hood fans set up to continue our chats after BBCA shuts this site down at the end of the run of the show (the Cyber Forest Home site is not only about RH - Robin Hood - but will also serve as a source for any news, videos, photos, etc., regarding Jonas Armstrong, Richard Armitage, & the rest of those who were part of the RH series, in their careers & lives).

Oh, by the way, Jules - I don't know if you've ever gotten into the Robin Hood research sites on the web - I did after that HORRIBLE Marian death episode (everybody was stunned, then furious ! ! ! ! and I let the BBCA know about our anger)

Anyway, according to the two to three sites found, Robin Hood and Marian (and the gang) were actual people (photos are - or were - there of the church Robin/Marian were married in, her tomb, the supposed gravestone of Robn). There are bios of ALL of them, and they say that not only did Robin / Marian marry, but they had two daughters, and lived in and around Sherwood Forest and Barnesdale Forest for 20 years before Robin got very sick and was betrayed by a cousin who bled him to death.

Just to let you know the storyline by the RH show writers does NOT follow the true legend story, in which they DID live HAPPILY EVER AFTER (what we were really wanting at the end of Season 2.)

Well, I do know the traditional stories of Robin Hood, and I knew that the writers were completely departing from the legends....but I had no idea that they were real people, or at least based on real people. I've often wondered, though.

I grew up watching various Robin Hood movies, and I've always found it an absolutely irresistable tale! As I was channel-surfing one day (what, about two weeks ago now?) I caught the scene from S1 where Guy goes to Marian's house and demands to see the necklace. After Robin sneaks it in through the window, Guy then (in a complete 180 that fascinated me) proposes to Marian, who accepts, all while poor Robin is made to look on in silent torment. I knew right then that I had to watch this series, and I was out buying the disks less than an hour later.

Sorry to get into this argument again, but to the best of available evidence Robin Hood and Marian were not real people. You can look up the articles on "Robin Hood" and "Maid Marian" on Wikipedia.

There may have been some historical prototypes of Robin Hood -- probably more an amalgam of several real-life people than one actual person. Marian was not even a part of the early Robin Hood ballads.

It's not unusual to have claims that a particular place is a tomb or residence of legendary characters who never existed. According to scholars, the so-called "tomb of Robin Hood" at Kirklees Abbey is a 17th Century forgery (the medieval English in the inscription is incorrect, and tombstone inscriptions in the 12th Century would have been in Latin anyway).

I'll join you - I love history whether it's true or not. I just adore campfire stories (though not the creepy ones.) All legends are like the campfire "telephone" game: the last story heard is not the first story told. They all are worth the telling. Wassail!

Oh, I'm not saying that being fictional makes the story any less important! :) It's just that I'm an amateur but passionate student of history, so I care about accuracy in that sense. However, I couldn't care less that a lot of things on the BBC RH are not historically accurate -- it's the characters and stories that matter, not whether Robin has the right kind of bow!

Robin Hood is a legend that has been retold and reinvented many times, and kudos to the BBC for doing it again in such an entertaining way, even if we may not like every single thing they did with it! (And we can reinvent it yet again in fan fiction!)

Wikipedia has already been proven incorrect in some of its data (not by me).

I 've wondered in the past about some of the things I heard on that sight, and last year (?), or the year before, the papers had an article revealing the same news - that experts had discovered that the guy who maintains it has entered false info more an once over the years. Not that he was deliberately putting in wrong data, but that he wasn't aware, himself, that what he input was incorrect.

So don't rely totaly on that source for completely accurate info.

Oh, I know that Wikipedia can be inaccurate, but this article is pretty well-documented with sources some of which I have checked out.

Here is what the Encyclopaedia Britannica says (which is considered to be the most reliable source and cannot be altered by just anybody):

______________________________________

ROBIN HOOD: legendary outlaw hero of a series of English ballads, some of which date from at least as early as the 14th century. Robin Hood was a rebel, and many of the most striking episodes in the tales about him show him and his companions robbing and killing representatives of authority and giving the gains to the poor. Their most frequent enemy was the Sheriff of Nottingham, a local agent of the central government (though internal evidence from the early ballads makes it clear that the action took place chiefly in south Yorkshire, not in Nottinghamshire). Other enemies included wealthy ecclesiastical landowners. Robin treated women, the poor, and people of humble status with courtesy. A good deal of the impetus for his revolt against authority stemmed from popular resentment over those laws of the forest that restricted hunting rights. The early ballads, especially, reveal the cruelty that was an inescapable part of medieval life.

Numerous attempts have been made to prove that there was a historical Robin Hood, though references to the legend by medieval writers make it clear that the ballads themselves were the only evidence for his existence available to them. A popular modern belief that he was of the time of Richard I probably stems from a "pedigree" fabricated by an 18th-century antiquary, William Stukeley. None of the various claims identifying Robin Hood with a particular historical figure has gained much support, and the outlaw's existence may never have been anything but legendary.

The authentic Robin Hood ballads were the poetic expression of popular aspirations in the north of England during a turbulent era of baronial rebellions and agrarian discontent, which culminated in the Peasants' Revolt of 1381. The theme of the free but persecuted outlaw enjoying the forbidden hunting of the forest and outwitting or killing the forces of law and order naturally appealed to the common people.

Although many of the best-known Robin Hood ballads are postmedieval, there is a core that can be confidently attributed to the medieval period. These are Robin Hood and the Monk, Robin Hood and Guy of Gisborne, Robin Hood and the Potter, and the Lytyll Geste of Robin Hode. During the 16th century and later, the essential character of the legend was distorted by a suggestion that Robin was a fallen nobleman, and playwrights, eagerly adopting this new element, increased the romantic appeal of the stories but deprived them of their social bite. Postmedieval ballads (which gave Robin a companion, Maid Marian) also lost most of their vitality and poetic value, doubtless as a result of losing the original social impulse that brought them into existence.

______________________________________

By the way, in the original ballad, Guy of Gisborne is not a recurring enemy of Robin Hood but simply a bounty hunter whom the Sheriff of Nottingham hires to kill Robin (but Robin kills him instead). In the original version neither Robin nor Guy are noblemen.

If memory serves me right, Guy of Gisborne did not become a significant character in the Robin Hood legend until a 1920s Hollywood silent movie in which he is an aristocrat and Robin's rival for the hand of Maid Marian.

A disturbing incident:

Out of curiosity (which often gets the best of me), I went this evening to my local bookseller and asked if they had anything on Robin Hood, either the "original" official legends or a book discussing how the legend evolved and theories about real historical figures vs. the legends we know and love. The little old man behind the counter actually laughed at me and said, "Robin Hood is a children's story. What do you want to read that for?"

I left red-faced. I don't think I'll be shopping there anymore.

Sad to think that a bookseller would be discouraging any kind of reading, in anyone. What does it matter what you read as long as you do? How did he know it wasn't for a child in your life to encourage them to read? That just breaks my heart. I can't imagine where I would be if I hadn't been encouraged by everyone in my family to love reading.

Robin Hood has good messages to it, no matter which version a person is exposed to. It's too bad many people don't understand that anymore, and just think of it as a "children's story."

I certainly wouldn't shop there anymore.

We have had a bookclub going here for awhile now, too, since it sounds like you are interested in Robin Hood lit. This was the list I think. I haven't read them all, but my favorites are the two by Parke Godwin, and the King Raven trilogy by Stephen Lawhead. Maid Marian by Elsa Watson is very good, too, a story more from Marian's perspective than the usual Robin.

1. Adventures of Robin Hood....by Paul Creswick (1902)
2. Sherwood Forest....by Lisa Croll Di Dio
3. Sherwood....by Parke Godwin
4. Robin and the King....by Parke Godwin
5. Robin Hood....by Roger Lancelyn Green
6. Hood....by Stephen Lawhead
7. Scarlet....by Stephen Lawhead
8. Ballads of Robin Hood....edited by Jim Lees
9. Robin Hood....by J. Walker McSpadden
10. Merry Adventures of Robin Hood....by Howard Pyle (1911)
11. Lady of Sherwood....by Jennifer Roberson
12. Lady of the Forest....by Jennifer Roberson
13. Ivanhoe....by Sir Walter Scott (this story is more about Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, and his alliance with Robin Hood)
14. Forest Wife Trilogy....byTheresa Tomlinson
15. Maid Marian....by Elsa Watson
16. Trouble in the Forest....by Trystam Kith
17. Robin Hood: Courtship of Allan A'Dale (play)
18. Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley
19. The Ballads of Robin Hood...edited by Jim Lees
20. The Path of the She-wolf... by Teresa Tomlinson

Ok, so I have a question. I can only think of one right now, but I had a whole list earlier while I was driving, so maybe I'll remember some of the other ones later...

Am I allowed to say whatever I like about the events of S1 and S2 (ex: spelling out the tragic end of S2), or am I still supposed to be cautious (subtle) for those who have not seen it yet? Worded another way: Are S3 events the only ones I have to be careful what I say about, or are any major plot points no-nos?

Yes, S3 is the only spoiler alert zone. We all know S1 and S2 by heart and you may comment about anything in them freely. All past S3 episodes are fair game for full discussions. A spoiler notice should be added to any posts about future S3 episodes - you probably have seen several already, with blank space between the alert and the post text.

Thanks for asking about the spoiler netiquette. So please discuss at will any topic from S1, Ep.1 through S3, Ep. 7. The remainder of S3 episodes will need spoiler alerts until they air on BBCA. Once an episode is shown, we may post away madly, and we do!

Thank you for letting me know! Now I'll get to post something that I wanted to post earlier, but took off because I didn't know if I should or not.

I know nothing about most of the S3 episodes, and so no spoiler alerts from me about things that haven't aired yet!!!

Oh Jules.....I am SO sorry about your incident! I am a bookseller and I'm shocked that he would say such.....apparently he is not a true lover of books! Whenever anyone approaches me to ask a question, and sometimes they preface it with.."this may sound dumb"...I always say that no question is stupid OR dumb, OR childish! I'm foaming at the mouth, since I just want to throttle this person for making you feel this way. A pox on this person, LOL!!!

(Deep breathing to get back to normal, kind self) Robin Hood may be a fictional legend....but let us all remember that legends are born of facts, therefore, I do believe in the legend and Robin and Marian (or Matilda).

Just my humble .02 opinion. ;)

Maryrose, I'm not going to stop buying books just because of that one bad experience. I love them too much!!! I just won't be buying books at that store anymore! I couldn't believe he said that either, but it's ok. As you said, he's obviously not a true book lover. I'm over it already. There are other places to buy books...

Hi Jules....the reason for us cautioning everyone on spoilers is that many were spoiled on the ending of season 2 BEFORE it aired and prompted many to leave. Since the ending was horrific, it just completely destroyed the entire show at that point.

Many have viewed (including myself) all of season three, but there are some who have yet, therefore....we should respect that. Sometimes when someone wanted to talk about a future episode, they would create a seperate thread with the word "SPOILER" in the subject. This way those who did not want to know OR discuss it, would not go into this thread.

Feel free to talk about season 1 AND 2....also take a look at some of the previous threads, or create new ones.

Cheers!

Yeah, I knew how S2 was going to end before it happened, and I enjoyed the journey anyway. I also stumbled onto some spoilers about the end of S3, so I'm pretty sure I know what happens then, too, but so be it. It doesn't bother me much. I'm used to spoilers because I very rarely get to watch a series during first-run, and so I either catch later reruns before I'm to that point in the show, or people insist on telling me things that happen later in the show. Of course, I have also been known to read the last page of a book first. Hehe.... :D

I just wanted to be considerate of others who do not enjoy spoilers, and since I noticed that most people were skirting around the details of Marian's death, I wanted to make sure that I wasn't posting anything I shouldn't by talking about it directly.

Can someone please pm me with where to go to find the new board? I seem to have misplaced it...

It was actually some of the scenes from the S3 finale, specifically the last scene with Robin and Guy (being purposely vague here) that got me into the show.

I kind like knowing what's going to happen, because that way I can be prepared for the worst. I have to say as a Guy/Marian shipper, the S2 finale would have hit me like a ton of bricks after all the positive G/M buildup in 2x10-2x11. :( This way I was at least ready for it.

I know I'm being a little silly here, but tomorrow night will be the first "new" episode of RH that I will be able to catch, and I'm really excited about it!!! I think Ep. 7 comes on at 7pm, and Ep. 8 comes on at 8pm. Then, later on, another Ep. is rerunning, I think Ep. 6. So, by Sunday, I will have officially only missed 5 episodes.

Well, truthfully, since it's Halloween, I'm recording them all and I will probably watch them Sunday. I'm not going to be home Sat. night. Plus, that will mean that I will get to watch them in order, since Ep. 6 is playing the latest.

I'm really just rambling because I'm excited......

(and I just edited this post, because apparently I can't spell today.)

Hey Jules, another good posting of our wonderful RH Book Club reading lit was offered by our "Honored Grandfather", grandfatherrobert. His list includes books from the last 100 years and some older, I believe. I think you can locate it on "Robin Hood And Literature, 5". (its quite a kick a#$s list, LOL!)

I'm really enjoying "Sherwood". About half-way through it. Ralf's about to lose Perdu to Marian. If he isn't our Guy all over again! The writers of this series took more than a little inspiration from Mr. Godwin.

Yes indeed MM,

they most certainly did take more than just a little cue from Mr. G.

As you progress through "Robin And The King", you'll find even MORE "borrowing" went on. (ESPECIALLY when you see S3 finale. And yes, I would urge you to get to a "big box" discount store for those kleenex tissue boxes that come in the multiple economy size. (You're gonna need'em!)

Well, if its any comfort Jules,

by the finale, you'll be doing what Maryrose described as

"tearfully doing the happy dance".

S3 conclusion hurts like heck, but it literally shouts HOPE to the rafters!!

It will be Marian's final victory and she gets to take Robin, Guy, and Allan" all three of her men, along for the "ticker tape parade", LOL.

Not sure I want to read "Robin and the King" yet. I may stop at "Sherwood". Can't take any more S3 finales, visual or written!

There is a line from "Titanic" that reduces me to helpless sobbing every time. When the elderly Rose is telling her story, she says how Jack exists only in her memory now. But, she says, "he saved me, in every way a person can be saved".

Brings the next episode to mind, doesn't it? How a certain someone "saves" the other?

Yep, it's stock-up-on-tissues-time for sure. (and lots of decongestant) May need a bigger wastebasket, too.

MCM, help the economic recovery: buy a new super-jumbo-size waste basket. Invert your new basket and it can double as an air raid shelter when the arrows start to fly thither and yon. Me, I prefer to crawl under the bed and borrow Much's magic shield - I expect he'll need it more than I soon. To keep delicate noses happy through all the RH effluxes, Matilda and I recommend tissues with aloe. No sense being sore and sorry now, is there?

Such a wonderful reminder of the debt that Guy owes to the three best ladies in his life!

Mom, (who got him here in the first place, thank YOU Lady Gisborne!, )Ms. Meg,the love that awaits him, and of course, Marian the love of his life on this Earth, (and the partner/ soul mate of the one brother who shows him the way home, (and follows right behind him.)

(Come to think of it, our Guy is going to have a rather large heavenly "to do" list, no? LOL.
But then again, he'll be surrounded by his loved ones, FOREVER.

If you can MM, read "Robin And The King" until the final chapter. Reserve that one until after S3 conclusion and then it will become even more beautiful and meaningful.

Pokeygirl
BTW: as for comparison, remember Godwin's " Bargain Oak"; its one heck of a "crayon" for S3 finale.

S3 finale will feel like you've wondered into the last acts of Hamlet, MacBeth, and Romeo and Juliet put together.

But it DOES have the incredible beauty and promise of the most glorious of sunsets.

I'm about two thirds of the way through "Sherwood", and really enjoying it. The beginning is a tad slow--too many battle scenes, but it gets better as the characters start to develop. There are some definite similarities in our BBC RH to Parke Godwin's Robin Hood tale. You'll see what I mean when you read it.

For Team Leather: Wouldn't you say that Mr. Godwin clearly liked his Ralf Fitz-Gerald creation? At least as much as he did his version of Robin and Marian? He wrote about Ralf's doings as much as Robin's. Puts us in mind of the central role that Guy ends up playing in this series. He's too fascinating and memorable of a character to relegate to a minor role.

I liked how Marian was attracted to him in spite of herself. She loves Robin, and marries him, but there's something about that Ralf/Guy man she just can't deny! LOL! At least he doesn't kill her in this story. I've had about enough of tragic endings.

Hi MM,

That Ralf Fitz-Gerald is even something of a mix between someone's baby brother, (in the circumstances of his birth), and our Guy.

Godwin definitely likes his Norman knight so much he makes him a love interest for Marian, AND has him appointed as Sheriff of Nottingham by William I himself no less!
But I think my favorite link to Guy is the way he is so devoted to Marian, even risking his life to save her from the wrath of William The Conqueror, (while she's almost to full term carrying Robin's child). Yet, he is personaly responsible for getting Robin's mother thrown into a dungeon to an almost certain death, enforces the law of the land and blinds a man Robin turns over to him for judgement, he and Robin literally kick the living daylights out of and almost kill each other,(many times over) and still he marries and falls in love with Robin's wonderful cousin Judith, (THESE two live THE most incredible romance, and raise two sons in the bargain). He and Robin are forced to lay aside their differences, and fight side by side, to survive and save England from anarchy. (Does ANY of this sound a wee bit familiar, folks?).

"Sherwood" has a positive and hopeful ending, but "Robin And The King" will come pretty much to the same conclusion as S3, (minus Ralf being responsible for Marian's death, but rather risking his home, his family, and his security to try and save both Robin and Marian, from the wrath of Roussel, William's son and successor.) But this second book does have an incredible epilogue and we get a brief glimpse into the role Ralf and Judith play in the upbringing of Robin and Marian's children.

In spite of all their struggles, and battles, Ralf and Robin become family. Later Marian will admit what a cherished friend and family member he becomes. (it will melt your heart. folks.)

Just one question, does Ralf die at the end of "Robin and the King"? I can deal with Robin's death, but not Ralf's! I can't read it if he dies! Let me know, please, and, in the words of a fellow prisoner to Sir Guy, "put me out of me misery"!

Ok MM,

Sorry for the suspense,

But yes,, our wonderful Sir Ralf and his Victcomese Judith, survive.

And as they SHOULD have: Marian and Robin go TOGETHER.

THIS time, it is THEY who (along with Robin's mother, Maud), die in Ralf's arms. (and don't forget that VERY special tree.).

You'll have another good cry, MM. Either way, the epilogue really helps bring up the rear and points to a future in just the right way.

Thanks, Pokeygirl, for the "spoiler"----I'll read "Robin and the King" now without suffering major anxiety! Just finished "Sherwood" today. Ralf really grabbed my attention. Just loved how he and Robin joined forces, after "leaving their mark" on each other and nearly killing each other several times. Is there more of a love story to come between himself and Judith? I get the idea that right now she loves him more than he does her. He's still got an eye for Marian, and the marriage was arranged, after all. Also, dare I ask the fate of Perdu? Please tell me she survives!

Never fear, MM,

Our little Perdu does live, but I believe by the epilogue,

(which takes place 12 years after the conclusion of RATK, during Edward's 27th B-Day party; I think its his engagement party? I can't quite remember exactly.)

she has gone to be with her mistress in that big "litter box" in the sky? LOL: (Ok, maybe the "fireplace in the sky" as the case may be?): Wasn't Robin's goodbye to John Littleread's (Little John), SO beautiful?....(Its a portent to the end of RATK.)

BTW: didn't you just LOVE the way Ralf would take HER with him on his rounds in and around Nottingham's farms and tenants; "seeing most of the shire from the security and position of Ralf's open saddlebag" ?; while she would always raise her head to receive Ralf's tribute, scratching her chin? ; OMG I could just imagine THAT one!

Considering that most noble's in Ralf's position took along a hunting falcon, HE took a little three legged cat, that was just TOO adorable!! ( and it revealed his very vulnerable and tender side, the one that wanted to STOP killing, and start making a new life, JUST like our Guy.)

And Oh yes, there is a very lovely and tender love story to come. The way they all form a family is one of THE miracles of the entire series.

(Robin, Marian, Ralf, Judith, with children Edward, Moira, Jean, and Haukin; along with Lady Maud, THE tower of strength,, enduring EVERYTHING and then some the Normans could throw at her). What a gal!!)

Watch for one of the best 'girlfriend" scenes between Judith and Marian as they;ve just heard that Robin is still alive and coming home from his service to the king. They both get tipsy and It makes you laugh and cry all at the same time.

Thanks once again, PG! Sounds like Perdu lives a long life! Yes, I loved the story of her riding in Ralf's saddlebag, taking in the scenery and rubbing against his hand when he petted her. So cute! (and a tough survivor, like him) Ralf was showing his vulnerable side for sure. He was a hard, sometimes brutal man, like Guy, but I got the sense he really wanted to be someone else, someone as you said who could stop killing and make a new life.

Looking forward to reading it now!
